What is Love?

This is the cutest thing ever, I love reading kids answers to questions.
Actual children’s answers to the question “what is love?”
“When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth.” - Billy, age 4
“Love is what makes you smile when you’re tired.” - Terri, age 4
“Love is what’s in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen.” - Bobby, age 7
“If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate,” - Nikka, age 6
“Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday.” - Noelle, age 7
“Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well.” - Tommy, age 6
“You really shouldn’t say ‘I love you’ unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget.” - Jessica, age 8
“Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Brad Pitt.” - Chris, age 7
“Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day.” - Mary Ann, age 4
“I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones.” - Lauren, age 4
“When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn’t bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That’s love.” - Rebecca, age 8
“When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you.” - Karen, age 7
To me, love is piggyback rides through the mud, back rubs even if you're tired, and always having each others best interest at heart. Love develops and grows. It starts off with tingles and butterflies and in the end you cannot describe the feeling, but you know you would do anything for that person.
What is your definition of love?

grateful

Just a little quick hello to you all this black friday. Yes I stayed up all night fighting the madness at the sales. It was a fun time, but I am now exhausted. How was your Thanksgiving? Ours was wonderful. It was very low key, filled with all the best foods, and ended with my younger cousins boxing in the basement and making mustaches out of pipe cleaners. Oh their little imaginations. I have SO much to be thankful for this year. A loving family that lives so close. The most amazing husband this world has ever seen! For colder weather that allows me to wear my new birthday boots and DIY scarves. For my pups that keep our life interesting. And for peppermint hot chocolate. That stuff is straight from heaven!
Now that Thanksgiving is over it's officially time for all things Christmas. Excuse me while I decorate with the help pinterest. Im thankful for that too... Happy shopping and Christmas music listening to you all. xox

Happy Birthdays

Today is my dad's 51st Birthday.
I love him to death and am so thankful for all he does for me and the family. He is pretty much the definition of super dad. He spent the morning teaching my brothers how to change the oil on their soon to be truck. Not my kind of birthday but that is just how my papa is. Here are some pictures from this evening when we gave him the shadow box we made for his office with pictures of us kids and subway art of all dad's famous sayings. I apologize for the quality of the pictures. I'm about due for a camera upgrade...

Birthday Freebies

OKAY people have been asking about the free foods on your birthday. Here is what we did:
Orange Julius was the first place we went. You have to sign up to be in their Quench Club and you get a buy one get one free coupon for signing up and also one on your birthday.
Then we went to Einstein Bagels to finish breakfast off strong. You also have to sign up for this one. But you get a free bagel (when you purchase a drink) just for signing up, and a free breakfast sandwich on your birthday (when you purchase a drink). You have to print the coupons for this one as well.
We went to Liberty Market and Joes for lunch. Present your ID on your bday and get $10 off your purchase. I got my lunch {at Liberty Market} and then we walked across the street to Joes Real BBQ where you also get $10 off on your birthday. So Chase ate that while I ate my Liberty Market picnic sandwich, which is amazing by the way.
Then was Krispe Kreme. I am sad to announce that they only give ONE donut on your birthday now. They used to give a dozen. But show your ID and you can pick whichever donut your little heart desires. I chose a pumpkin one that was simply delicious.
Fire House Subs gives out a free sandwich when you show ID on your birthday. We were too stuffed and actually didnt make it to this one.
Then for dinner we went to Joe's Farm Grill and got another $10 off just for being born :)
Then we finished the night off strong with a Lemon Berry Creme Slush from Sonic. Sign up for the Sonic Cruisers Club and get the choice of free creme slush, tater tots or a fountain drink. You can print one of the coupons from the website and this one, we found out, can be used anytime over the next year!
We planned to also go to Jack in the Box but we were both so stinking full! Print Jack in the box coupon here and show ID for a free dessert. No signing up required.
Anyways that was our fun and food-filled day :)
Happy 21st to Meee.

Disappointment

There is no way to avoid disappointment.
It is pretty much inevitable. Everyone encounters it at some point in their life. Sometimes we are disappointed by others, sometimes we are disappointed by ourselves and sometimes we are the ones doing the disappointing. You cannot control what other people say, do, or think. But you can control the way you react to them. I think that is the most important thing. The way we react to things shows our true character. Especially when you are caught off guard or surprised, because we were not aware there was an issue. That is when our true colors show. Sometimes it doesn't matter how well you thought you were doing or how much effort you were putting into something, people will be disappointed. They will criticize you and often say things that are not true and that are hurtful. And you just have to walk away. Be the bigger man {or woman}, no matter what they think. The only thing that matters is what you know to be true. What you know to be right. After all, disappointment is God's way of saying, "I have something better in store."

"The principles of living greatly include the capacity to face trouble with courage, disappointment with cheerfulness, and trial with humility. " -Thomas S. Monson
love him.

Just so there are no assumptions, this is not a rant about my husband. I try to be classier than that ;)

Today

Today is a wonderful day.
This girl is going through the temple for her first time. My insides get happy when I think about it.
The temple is such a wonderful place and I am glad that I am able to go and feel such wonderful peace while inside. I want to go more. I need to go more. If you aren't sure what I am talking about you can read more about it here.
Thanks cousin for letting me share your special day.
Love you Poookie.

Family Outing.

Enjoy.

Hair troubles

shirt: forever 21, scarf: ross, pants: old navy, socks: target, boots: dillards, watch: gift, earrings: forever 21
It is finally cooling down here in good ol' Arizona and I couldn't be happier. So its boots, scarves and long sleeves every single day. I took my extensions out and am doing some major contemplating. Should I leave my hair long (like in the above pictures) or cut it real short like this:
My hair is soo very very thin. When I wash my face at night, I put my hair up with a bobby pin. Its very fine, thin and just plain blah. Unless I wait three days between washings and allow for the grease to set in. Then its gets all this volume and Im in love. But even then sometimes it doesn't work out and you can only use so much dry shampoo before your hair is a thick clumpy mess. Chase wants it long and I really want to cut it. What do y'all think? Help a sister out.

Pedicure. The Free Kind.

I gave myself a pedicure tonight. We are saving our moola so I have to settle with a two star job and no massage or foot jets. And I might have let my feet soak too long resulting in soggy, pruney toes. Im sure you all wanted to know that. Anyways, I wasn't sure what color I wanted. So I closed my eyes and picked 5 from my assortment of 8 nail polishes. It was probably a good thing that I did them myself. The cute little asians at the salon probably wouldn't have understood that I wanted 5 different colors used randomly on whatever toe I thought was best. And when they understood they would have spoke to each other all fast in korean about the weirdo lady who wanted rainbow toes. Anywhoo. Here are my pruney first grader toes.
I am now going to kiss the face off my lovely husband. Have a wonderful night all. kloveyoubye.

November

November means a lot of things.
1. Its almost thanksgiving, which means it's almost Christmas
2. Its almost my birthday.
3. Cousin Allyse's babe is almost due
4. Its almost chilly enough to wear jackets. almost.
I typed fall into pinterest and this was my most favorite thing I saw.
And I have to say it portrays fall just perfectly
{not so much in arizona, but hey lets pretend}

Okay heard this song on Footloose and have had it on repeat ever since.
I hope you all enjoy it as much as I have been literally
